Indore (Madhya Pardesh): Congress leaders celebrated the sacred festival of Raksha Bandhan at the Khajrana Ganesh Temple, where several prominent party members gathered to mark the occasion. MP Congress secretary Reena Borasi organised the event.
Before the celebration, Congress leaders offered prayers and sought blessings of Lord Khajrana Ganesh. Reena Borasi tied a rakhi to the deity and later on the wrists of state Congress president Jitu Patwari, former minister Sajjan Verma, Mahamandaleshwar Dadu Maharaj and other senior leaders.
The main Raksha Bandhan programme took place in a hall within the temple complex, where the leaders also shared their thoughts on the festival’s significance.
Municipal Leader of Opposition Chintu Chouksey, Raju Bhadauria, Vinay Bakliwal, Sadashiv Yadav, and several other Congress members were present at the event. Apart from Borasi, other women also tied rakhis on Patwari and other party leaders’ wrists.
Speaking on the occasion, Jitu Patwari emphasized the festival’s meaning, saying, “Raksha Bandhan is celebrated with blessings for the safety, peace and prosperity of sisters in the family.
We have been celebrating this festival in the Rau constituency for many years and this year, we will hold the programme there on August 16 as well. Similar events are being organized at Congress offices. It is our privilege that Reena Borasi has organized this celebration.”
Patwari also reaffirmed the party’s commitment to the safety and respect of women, adding, “We are moving forward with the pledge to protect and safeguard our sisters.”
Replying to a query by reporters about the appointment of district and city presidents, Patwari remarked, “The process of organizational appointments is sacred. If I start announcing it over the microphone, its sanctity will be diminished. I know when and where certain matters should be addressed.”
