Indore (Madhya Pradesh): While the city continues to reel under frequent power cuts, Madhya Pradesh West Zone Electricity Distribution Company has claimed to have completed maintenance work at 1,500 feeders across the city.
West Discom said that the company has successfully carried out maintenance on more than 1,500 feeders across 33kV and 11kV lines, covering all 15 districts and circles—including Indore city and the rural Indore circle over the last 15 days.
West Discom managing director Anoop Kumar Singh said that a large-scale campaign was launched aimed at enhancing supply quality and minimising power tripping issues, especially ahead of the summer peak load period.
As part of the initiative, specialised panther lines also underwent maintenance and the campaign will continue in the coming days. Each of the 55 divisions under the company’s jurisdiction identified key grids requiring urgent attention. Critical equipment such as VCBs (Vacuum Circuit Breakers), jumpers, insulators, discs and power transformers were repaired or upgraded under the direct supervision of senior engineers.
Besides, ground teams from 434 zones and distribution centres executed crucial work on low-pressure lines, transformers and service connections. These proactive steps are expected to reduce unexpected outages and improve consumer satisfaction.

Senior officials, including the chief general manager, executive director, chief engineer, additional chief engineer, and superintending engineers, conducted on-site inspections to monitor progress and ensure quality standards were met. They also collected feedback from consumers through direct interactions and follow-up calls to better understand on-ground realities and address complaints more efficiently.
Singh himself toured areas in Indore city, reviewing maintenance work first-hand and engaging directly with field personnel.
“This mega campaign is part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring reliable and high-quality power supply for all consumers,” Singh said. “We are combining technical upgrades with consumer feedback to build a more resilient electricity network,” he added.
