Indore (Madhya Pradesh): To make people aware about the increasing drug abuse and its harmful effects, a special state-wide awareness campaign titled “Nashe se doori, hai zaroori” has been launched across the state under the direction of the Police Headquarters, Bhopal.

The campaign will run from July 15 to July 30. In the city, the campaign was formally inaugurated under the leadership of commissioner of police (CP) Santosh Kumar Singh. The initiative began with police officials and media personnel wearing awareness badges.

Addressing the media, the police commissioner said that the objective of the campaign was to educate all sections of society, especially adolescents and youths, about the dangers of drug use and to encourage them to stay away from addictive substances.

The campaign, run in collaboration with social organizations and departments, will include street plays and creative competitions, distribution of banners, posters and pamphlets, awareness promotion through print, digital and social media, video screenings, public dialogues, short films and more.

To mark the occasion, a special selfie point for awareness was inaugurated and pamphlets and banners were distributed and displayed at various locations throughout the city.

As part of the campaign, an awareness rally was also held in which students from various schools, colleges and educational institutions along with members of the Nagar Suraksha Samiti, Traffic Mitras and social organizations participated. Approximately 2,500 people participated in the campaign. The CP administered an anti-drug pledge and appealed to everyone to avoid drugs not only for their health but also for the well-being of their families and society at large. He encouraged individuals to inspire others in their communities to give up drugs.

The awareness rally commenced from the CP office in Palasia, passing through key locations, including Guitar Tiraha, Palasia Square and Ghantaghar Square and concluded at Chhappan Dukan.

Throughout the rally, participants held placards, banners and pamphlets with anti-drug messages, spreading awareness among the citizens about building a drug-free society.

Additional CP Amit Singh, additional CP Manoj Shrivastav, DCP Zone-1 Vinod Kumar Meena, DCP Zone-03 Hansraj Singh, DCP Zone-04 Rishikesh Meena, DCP (Headquarters) Prakash Parihar, DCP (Crime) Rajesh Tripathi, additional DCP Zone-02 Amrendra Singh, additional DCP (Crime) Rajesh Dandotiya as well as other senior police officers, members of the Nagar Suraksha Samiti, Traffic Mitras, students from educational institutions and several respected citizens were present in the programme.
