Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav on Wednesday cancelled the contract of a Turkish company which was involved in Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) following its connection with anti-India links.
The move comes a day after Madhya Pradesh urban development and housing minister Kailash Vijayvargiya put Turkish firm Asis Guard, which is involved in Bhopal and Indore metro projects under the lens for its direct or indirect links to anti-India elements.
“We came to know that a Turkish firm (Asis Elektronik) was involved in ticket and revenue collection work under the BRTS project. As this company is a sister concern of a company which prepared drones used by Pakistan armed forces against India during Operation Sindoor, we terminated its contract,” Bhargav told Free Press.
The mayor said that anti-Turkey sentiments are running high and people of Indore, who are very patriotic, can’t bear to be associated with a firm which was directly or indirectly involved in any project within the city.
As per information, Asis company had been doing ticket collection work under the BRTS project since 2016. Indians got furious against China and Turkey ever since it came to fore that drones and missiles supplied by the two countries were used against India.

BRTS corridor was developed around 13 years ago with the help of grant from the central government. The project was completed with use of many foreign material and contract for revenue collection were also granted to cities and countries beyond India.
As the tension with Pakistan escalated, Turkey and China openly sided with the neighbouring enemy state leading to ire among Indians against them.
India is one by one identifying involvement of Turkish firms in Indian projects and cancelling the same if any direct or indirect involvement is found with companies that supplied drones to Pakistan.
On Tuesday, the state government signalled at terminating its contract with Turkish company Asis Guard, which is currently involved in the digital systems of the Bhopal and Indore Metro projects. The move follows reports that drones manufactured by the company were allegedly used by Pakistan in anti-India operations, particularly during Operation Sindoor.
The company is under scrutiny for its suspected indirect involvement in activities threatening India’s sovereignty.
