Indore: High Court Dismisses Qadri’s Plea Seeking Quashing Of FIRs |
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court on Wednesday dismissed a writ petition filed by Anwar Qadri, who sought to quash two FIRs registered against him and a public notice declaring him an absconder with a reward for information on his whereabouts.
Justice Pranay Verma, presiding over the case, ruled that the petition lacked merit and was essentially a disguised attempt to seek bail. The court observed that Qadri had failed to present himself for investigation in connection with FIR, both registered at Banganga Police Station.
The petitioner had also challenged a public notice issued on June 19, by the DCP of Zone-03, which announced a Rs 10,000 reward for information leading to his apprehension. He argued that the cases were politically motivated and the declaration of him being absconding was illegal and unconstitutional.

However, the court found these claims to be unsubstantiated. “If the petitioner is an accused in a criminal case, then he has to necessarily subject himself to the process of investigation,” Justice Verma stated, adding that Qadri had legal remedies available to address any apprehension of arrest.
The judge also criticizsd the petitioner for raising concerns about the arrest of other accused individuals, stating that Qadri cannot claim relief on behalf of others already in custody. The court emphasised that the petition amounted to a "bail application in the form of a writ petition," a practice it described as inappropriate and deprecated.
Finding no grounds to intervene, the court dismissed the petition, allowing the police investigation to proceed without interference.
