Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The Indore Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Mahendra Solanki, an Indian Forest Service (IFoS) officer, ended his life by hanging himself at his government bungalow on Friday. The exact reason behind his extreme decision is still not known and the police are investigating various angles, including his mobile phone records.
However, DCP Hansraj Singh said that they got some documents revealing Solanki was suffering from hypertension and he was being treated for his condition. However, his family member’s statements have not yet been recorded after which the entire scenario will become clearer. Police said that Solanki was undergoing treatment with a psychiatrist and often experienced depression.
Two mobile phones and some official documents were found from the scene which are being examined. According to police, Solanki hanged himself at his government bungalow in NavratanBagh. At the time of the incident, his elderly parents were at home, while his wife and two daughters were in Khargone. His postmortem was conducted on Saturday morning and his last rites were performed in his native place Khargone.

He was deeply attached to his daughters and chose to end his life in his daughters’ room. His family is still in shock and unable to understand why he took the extreme step. His brother Jayraj Solanki said that they had spoken on December 9 and Mahendra had not mentioned any problems or stress during the conversation.
Was to attend daughter’s friend’s wedding
Family members said that Solanki's wife and daughters had gone to Khargone on Thursday to attend the wedding of their daughter’s friend. Solanki was also scheduled to join them on Friday evening but before that he took the drastic step.
