Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The Holkar Cricket Stadium received a second bomb threat in just three days, triggering an intensive security operation and evacuation of the premises. The latest threat, sent via email to the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA), claimed that a bomb had already been planted inside the stadium.
Following the alert, a bomb disposal squad conducted a thorough, hours-long search of the stadium, but no explosive device was found. Despite the absence of any physical threat, police officials have taken the matter seriously due to the nature and tone of the message.
Unlike the earlier threat received on May 9, which appeared to be a copied message demanding the government stop 'Operation Sindoor', the latest email was more direct and alarming. It read: "We have planted a bomb in the stadium," and was sent from a different email ID, with language indicating a more calculated and credible intent.
According to police sources, there are indications the email may have been sent via the dark web, complicating tracing efforts.
Tukoganj police station in-charge Jitendra Yadav said, “We received information from the MPCA office regarding a threatening email. A full search of the Holkar Stadium was conducted by the bomb squad, but nothing suspicious was found.”
The Cyber Cell has been activated to trace the origin of the email. Experts are analysing metadata and headers to determine whether the recent threats are connected and to identify the sender.
Bombay Hospital also targeted
Just days earlier, on Saturday, Bombay Hospital also received a hoax bomb threat. A similar security sweep revealed no explosives. The Indore Crime Branch is now investigating all such threats collectively, considering the possibility of a coordinated hoax campaign.
