Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Indore’s zoo is going to be India’s first such zoo where the waste generated will be managed inside the zoo premises itself.

Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shivam Verma and other officials visited the zoo on Monday. The commissioner also gave necessary guidelines to the officials.

Commissioner Verma said that there is a plan to create various types of groups in the zoo such as food products, horticultural products and peats should be made in the mandal itself for information about dry waste.

Nadep peat technology was also used to make compost from green waste, which will be used in gardening inside the zoo.

At the same time, the sports participants will be sent for recycling by dividing it into 7 different places. This initiative is being supported by Godrej Products Limited under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Additionally, hand-holding support will be provided in the firm foundation zoo, under which the Independence Corporation will be provided training and supervision for garbage salon and treatment.

The commissioner said that this will give Indore another important achievement in the field of cleanliness and will also set an example for other zoos.

He instructed the officials to complete this work in a timely manner. This step will not only make the zoo clean and sustainable, but will also provide an opportunity to the visitors to see the process of waste processing directly, which will increase awareness towards cleanliness. ISO certification of Zero Waste Zoo will also be done.
