Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducted National Defence Academy (NDA) and Combined Defence Services (CDS) examinations on Sunday across 14 centres in Indore district. The exams saw an average attendance rate of 76 per cent, with officials and observers confirming a smooth and transparent process throughout.
A total of 2,828 candidates had applied for the NDA exam, out of which 2,145 were present, recording a 76 per cent turnout. The CDS exam witnessed a lower attendance, with only 689 out of 1,129 registered candidates appearing, marking a 61 per cent attendance rate.
The exams were held in two sessions: morning session from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm and afternoon session from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm. In the CDS exam, 65 per cent of candidates attended the first session, while 61 per cent were present in the second.
Experts noted a shift in the exam pattern this year, highlighting the inclusion of questions on government schemes and both national and international current events. Many candidates found the question papers to be more challenging than those in previous years, with difficulty levels elevated across multiple topics.

To ensure the integrity of the exam process, UPSC appointed three observers to oversee operations at the centres. Besides, inspecting officers and flying squad teams conducted regular visits to maintain strict vigilance. No instances of cheating or disorder were reported and observers commended the peaceful and secure conduct of the exams.
Candidates were subjected to multi-level verification at all centres contributing to a safe and controlled environment. The overall conduct of the examinations was praised for its transparency, discipline, and organisation.
