Kasrawad (Madhya Pradesh): The civic body employees along with police on Wednesday arrived in Ward No 7 to demolish houses built on the land of Dashora Samaj Dharamshala but returned empty-handed after protests from local BJP leaders and social workers.
The families living in the houses pleaded with the administration not to demolish their houses in the rainy season. However, ignoring their plea, the team demolished a wall of one of the houses.
On getting this information, local BJP councillor representative Hemant Soni, councillor Mohan Verma others along with social worker Jitendra Patidar (Jirati) reached the spot and expressed their concerns in front of municipal council CMO. They said that demolishing people's houses in rainy season reflects insensitivity of the council.
The affected families, including Arjun Verma, Sangeeta Rathore and Anjali Verma said they have filed a petition in court regarding the matter and the hearing is scheduled to take place on June 16. They urged the administration to halt the demolition until the court's decision.
CMO Kamlesh Goyal confirmed that the action was based on court orders and affected party was notified beforehand. Notably, the said land was leased for a Dharamshala decades ago. However, with time people started living there by building houses, the dispute of which was in the court for years.
