Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Three individuals, including Congress district president Sadashiv Yadav and two brothers of MPCC president Jitu Patwari, have been booked for allegedly grabbing land worth crores in the Tejaji Nagar area, police said on Tuesday.
The accused also allegedly threatened the complainant and attempted to extort money from him. No arrests had been made at the time of reporting.
According to additional DCP (Zone-1) Aalok Sharma, a case has been registered against Yadav and Patwari’s brothers - Nana Patwari and Bharat Patwari - under Sections 318(4), 329(3), 351 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The complaint was filed by 74-year-old Narendra Mehta, a resident of the Aerodrome area.
The complainant informed the police that his 6.33-acre land in Umrikheda village on Khandwa Road was forcibly taken over by the accused on March 29. Upon learning about the encroachment and reaching the site, Mehta was allegedly misbehaved with and threatened. The accused also reportedly demanded money from him.
Sharma added that the land originally belonged to the Holkar Estate and was gifted to Deewan Narayan Palsikar in 1939. It was later sold to Mehta’s father and has remained in the family’s possession since.
A police team has been constituted to arrest the accused and further investigations are underway.
