Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A cartoonist was booked on Wednesday for allegedly sharing objectionable cartoons against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on a social media platform. A case has been filed under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further investigation is on.
According to the Lasudia police, High Court advocate Vinay Joshi, a resident of Sudama Nagar area, registered a complaint that he was at the ISKCON temple in Nipania area when he came across the social media ID of one Hemant Malviya on his mobile phone.
On Malviya’stimeline, he saw some images which he alleged were deliberately shared to incite peopleagainst the RSS. He said there were objectionable and indecent cartoons of PM Narendra Modi and the RSS. He further claimed that comments derogatory to his idol, Lord Shiva, were also made.
Joshi said the videos, photos, and comments posted by Malviya hurt his religious sentiments as well as those of RSS workers and the entire Hindu community. He alleged that the user of that account did so to incite conflict among classes, to humiliate and anger the world’s largest organisation, the RSS.
He said he had saved recordings and screenshots of the timeline and profile details, and would hand them over to the police on a pen drive. The case has been filed under Section 196 (promoting enmity between different groups), 299 (outrage religious feelings), 302 (acts of wounding religious feelings), 352 (breach of peace), 353 (2) (statements conducing to public mischief) of the BNS.
