Indore: Days After Suicide Bid, Youth Dies In Hospital

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A 25-year-old man died at a city hospital days after an alleged suicide bid at his residence in the Banganga area, police said on Wednesday. The deceased, Kanha Goswami, had reportedly got married against his family’s wishes last month. The statements of his family members are being recorded to ascertain the reason for his suicide attempt.

Banganga police station in-charge Siyaram Singh Gurjar told the Free Press that Goswami was undergoing treatment after a family member thwarted his alleged suicide attempt four days ago. 

A preliminary investigation revealed that Goswami was employed at a readymade apparel company. In April, he married a woman who works at the same company. His wife’s family had allegedly called her home a few days ago. When Goswami went there to bring his wife back, her family got into an argument with him and thrashed him. 

Goswami allegedly attempted suicide soon after getting home. One of his family members managed to rescue him. No suicide note was recovered from the spot then. Meanwhile, the police are examining the autopsy report.

Senior citizen consumes toilet cleaner, dies

A 70-year-old man died after he reportedly consumed toilet cleaner at his place under the Azad Nagar police station jurisdiction. According to the police, Kishanlal Verma, a resident of Pawanpuri Colony, was admitted to the hospital, where he died during treatment.

It is said that he took the extreme step following a family dispute. However, the police are investigating the case to find the reason behind his suicide.
