Wanted Shooter Romil Vohra Held After Gunfight Near Delhi-Haryana Border (VIDEO)

According to police, Romil was a wanted in several cases of heinous crimes including recent murder in Kurukshetra and a triple murder case in Yamunanagar, beside an arms case in Delhi.

Chandigarh: Notorious gangster Romil Vohra, who carried a reward of Rs 1 lakh announced by Haryana government, was hurt in an encounter with a joint team of Haryana police and Delhi police’s special cell, and subsequently nabbed at Delhi border early Tuesday morning.

A known shooter of the notorious Kala Rana-Noni Rana gang, Romil was wanted in several murder cases in Haryana and arms cases in Delhi.

Stating that two sub-inspectors (SIs) were also hurt in the encounter, police said, Romil opened fire on the joint team of Delhi police’s special cell and the Haryana police near Dera Mandi when the joint team tried to nab him in the wee hours of Tuesday. In the retaliatory firing by the joint team, Romil and the two police officers – Pravin and Rohan - were injured.

All the three were rushed to a hospital, police said, adding that the Haryana police, which got a tip-off about Romil's presence in the Delhi-Haryana border area, launched a search operation with Delhi police’s special cell. On being identified, the team tried to nab him when he opened fire at the team.

4 OTHER GANGSTERS HELD AFTER ENCOUNTER

Meanwhile, in another development, Haryana police nabbed four gangsters including notorious Chand Pehalwan from Sonepat district after an encounter. Gangster Pehalwan who carried a Rs 10,000 reward, was hit in his leg in the encounter. He is said to be involved in 18 cases of murder, attempt to murder and arms Act and has been declared a proclaimed offender in 11 of these cases. Kala was wanted in six cases while Manish was named in three cases.

Stating that gangster Pehalwan was initially admitted to Sonepat civil hospital was later rushed to Khanpur medical college and hospital.

Police said that the other three gangsters have been identified as Nishant of Rohtak, Manish from Sonepat and Sachin from Jhajjar district. The police has also recovered five pistols along with eight cartridges and 470 gram charas from their possession.
