Vehicle Plunges Into 150-Meter Deep Gorge In Pithoragarh | X/@PithoragarhPol
Pithoragarh: A tragic incident has come to light from Uttarakhand's Pithoragarh, at least eight people were killed after a vehicle carrying 14 people plunged into a 150-meter deep gorge in the Muwani town on Tuesday. Police have reached the spot and rescue operations are underway. Six individuals have reportedly been seriously injured and have been rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
According to News 18, the driver lost control of the vehicle near the Soni bridge, and it fell into the gorge.
CM Dhami Expresses Grief
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed grief over the loss of lives and extended condolences to the bereaved families.
CM Dhami has directed the district administration and relief and rescue teams to expedite the rescue operations.
"The extremely sad news of a vehicle accident in the Muwani area of Pithoragarh district has been received. I pray to God that the souls of those who lost their lives in the accident find a place at His divine feet and that the grieving families are granted the strength to bear this immense pain. Instructions have been given to the district administration for the proper treatment of the injured, and I pray for everyone's speedy recovery," CM Dhami said on X.
PM Modi Announces Ex-Gratia
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condoled the loss of lives and announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs. 50,000 to the injured.
