Dehradun: Amid heavy rains in Uttrakhand, a 15-foot section of Curzon Road collapsed near the Uttarakhand Forest Development Corporation, near the residence of Tourisim Minister Satpal Maharaj. The road caved in after heavy rains in the region. No casualties or injuries were reported at the scene.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in parts of Dehradun, Tehri, Bageshwar, and Nainital districts on Wednesday. A yellow alert has been issued for these four districts. The remaining areas of Uttarakhand are also likely to experience heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning.
IMD also forcasted that Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Pauri, Tehri, Rudraprayag, Almora, Champawat and Pithoragarh may also receive moderate rainfall.
Residents have been urged to stay alert, especially in mountainous and low-lying areas, due to an increased risk of landslides. The Char Dham Yatra routes are also at risk, with the possibility of landslides triggered by the ongoing heavy rainfall.
