Uttar Pradesh News: 15-Year Marriage Ends Dramatically As Husband Marries Off Wife To Lover In Gonda

Gonda: In a rather unconventional twist to a domestic dispute, a husband in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, arranged his wife's marriage to her alleged lover after catching the two together. The dramatic turn of events saw the husband literally washing away the sindoor from his wife's forehead before summoning a priest to solemnize the new union at a nearby temple.

The wife, Karishma , had been married to Harishchandra for 15 years, and they have two children, a son aged 11 and a daughter. Harishchandra, who works in Surat but was currently home due to illness, claimed his wife had previously tried to poison him and their son.

Karishma, however, stated that everything was done "forcibly" and denied any romantic involvement with the man, identified as Shivraj Chauhan from Maharajganj.

The incident unfolded in Dan Bahadur Deeh village, within the Khodare police station area. After catching Karishma and Shivraj together, Harishchandra took them to the Budhau Baba Temple in Allipur.

After the impromptu ceremony, Karishma left with their daughter, while the son remained with Harishchandra. Police stated they were unaware of the specifics of the marriage but would investigate if a formal complaint is filed.
