The woman, 36-year-old Rajeshwari, a mother of six, had been missing since January 3. Her husband, Raju, filed a police complaint on January 5, alleging that she often interacted with a 45-year-old beggar, Nanhe Pandit, from their neighbourhood. He claimed she left home with money he had earned from selling a buffalo.
According to reports citing Raju's complaint, Rajeshwari had told their daughter Khushboo that she was going to the market to buy clothes and vegetables but never returned. After searching for her unsuccessfully, Raju accused Nanhe Pandit of abducting her and sought police intervention. An FIR was subsequently registered under Section 87 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to abducting a woman.
Rajeshwari Approaches Cops After Learning About The FIR
However, the narrative took a different turn when Rajeshwari visited the police station after learning about the FIR. In her statement, she revealed that she had moved to a relative's home in Farrukhabad to escape repeated abuse and physical violence from her husband. She categorically denied having left with anyone or having any involvement with Nanhe Pandit.
Hardoi Police Shares Statement In The Case
The Hardoi police, in a statement, clarified, "Rajeshwari informed us that her husband Raju regularly abused and beat her. Frustrated by this, she left for her relative's house in Farrukhabad.
