UP Assembly Holds 24-Hour Marathon Sitting On State’s Vision 2047
Minister Dr. Sanjay Nishad took aim at the Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and Congress, claiming that “before we came, Congress and BSP had already been wiped out; now, the remaining SP will also be cleared from the House.” Outlining his department’s Vision 2047, he said the goal is to equip fish farmers with digital and AI tools and make them economically and socially strong.

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Assembly witnessed a marathon sitting that began at 11 am on Wednesday and continued through the night, and ended at 11 am Thursday. The debate, focused on the state’s Vision Document, saw ministers from various departments speaking in turn, while opposition leaders also took the floor. The late-night hours were punctuated by sharp exchanges between treasury and opposition benches.
Fisheries Minister Dr.
He said 28 proposals had been prepared and submitted to the Speaker. Drawing a historical comparison, he remarked: “The Mughals and British looted us for 1,000 years, yet we were 20–30 times richer than them. But in 70 years, Congress looted so much that we fell behind. Even so, India’s economy is now ahead of Britain’s, which is a matter of pride.”
Minister of State for Homeguards Dharamveer Prajapati criticised the absence of opposition members during the Vision 2047 discussion. “They are neither willing to participate in building a developed India and UP nor willing to even listen — this is extremely unfortunate,” he said.

Prajapati said the vision includes increasing women’s strength in the Homeguards and giving them important responsibilities alongside the police, including INSAS rifles and social security. He highlighted the formation of Homeguard Security Cells in 49 districts as a “historic step” and claimed that without BJP governments in 2014 and 2017, “the young generation would have forgotten the birthplaces of Lord Ram and Lord Krishna.”
He also contrasted the present with previous regimes, alleging that earlier “only five VIP districts got electricity, but today all 75 districts are powered.” He claimed improved basic facilities are drawing people back from cities to villages. Infrastructure gains, he said, include reducing the Delhi travel time from Bundelkhand to six hours from ten via the Bundelkhand Expressway.
Akhilesh Yadav: BJP has failed on all fronts
SP president Akhilesh Yadav hit back, urging the BJP to release not a “Vision Document” but a “Reason Document” to explain why, in his view, it had failed to fulfil a single promise. “The BJP government has completely failed — in law and order, flood control, education, health, and development,” he said.
He accused the ruling party of practising “politics of hatred and discrimination” and claimed there was “widespread public anger” against it. “The people of Uttar Pradesh are demanding an account of ten years from the BJP and its allies. The BJP has no vision for the people. In nine years, not a single power plant has been set up in the state. They haven’t even filled the potholes in the roads. Dozens of districts and lakhs of people remain affected by floods,” he alleged.
Akhilesh further charged that the government had failed to build even a single district-level hospital in nine years, ruined ambulance services, shut down schools, and sold public institutions into private hands. “The BJP has only one vision — to mislead and deceive the public,” he said. “Broken roads, collapsing water tanks, sinking bridges, potholed streets, the dilapidated state of hospitals, and closing schools — these are the real face of the BJP’s vision.”
The session concluded later Thursday, but the sharp rhetoric on both sides signals that the battle over the state’s future roadmap — and its political ownership — is far from over.
