Tamil Nadu Records First HMPV Cases In Chennai & Salem; Both Under Treatment

Chennai: At least two cases of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), which is spreading rapidly in China, was reported in Tamil Nadu on Monday.
Sources in the Health Department said one case was detected in a patient in Chennai and another case in Salem district in western Tamil Nadu.
“Both patients are children and are undergoing treatment in hospitals,” an official of the Health Department said. “The children are being given constant treatment. We are monitoring the situation across the State. Presently, there is no cause for panic,” he said.
