Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer Yash Dayal has been booked under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) following serious allegations of sexual harassment and exploitation by a woman from Ghaziabad. The FIR was registered at Indirapuram police station after a preliminary probe into a complaint submitted through the Chief Minister’s grievance portal (IGRS).
Section 69 of the BNS pertains to sexual acts committed under false pretenses—such as deceitful promises of marriage or employment—and treats such acts as criminal exploitation, carrying a punishment of up to ten years’ imprisonment.
According to the complainant, she was in a five-year relationship with Dayal, during which he allegedly manipulated and exploited her emotionally, physically, and financially under the false assurance of marriage. The woman claimed that Dayal introduced her to his family and lived with her as though they were married, further strengthening her belief in his commitment. However, when questioned about formalizing the relationship, Dayal allegedly turned abusive and continued to harass her.
She also accused the cricketer of borrowing money from her over the years and said he has engaged in similar behaviour with other women. The complaint includes purported evidence in the form of chat transcripts, video call recordings, screenshots, and photographs.
So far, neither Dayal nor his family has issued a statement on the allegations.
Dayal, a left-arm fast bowler, was a key performer for RCB in the 2025 Indian Premier League, helping the team lift its maiden IPL title. He picked up 13 wickets in the tournament and was particularly effective during the death overs. His performance in the IPL had also earned him a maiden call-up to the Indian national squad for the home series against Bangladesh, although he has yet to make his debut.
The police have begun a detailed investigation into the allegations. Further legal action will follow based on the evidence submitted and the outcomes of the inquiry.
