An FIR was registered against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer Yash Dayal who was charged with sexual exploitation on Monday under false pretences of marriage. The latest episode occurred just days after a woman from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, said she had dated the cricket player for five years, filed a complaint alleging physical, emotional, and mental abuse.

The FIR was launched under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with sexual acts carried out through deceit or false promises of marriage. If proven guilty, Dayal could face 10 years in prison, along with fine.

What is the Yash Dayal controversy?

According to the FIR, the woman claimed she had been in a five-year-long relationship with Yash Dayal and had even met his family during that time. She alleged that Dayal mentally, financially, and physically exploited her over the course of their relationship. The situation escalated when she discovered his “true intentions,” which led to what she describes as a physical assault by the cricketer.

According to Dainik Bhaskar's report the woman further alleged that Dayal was involved with multiple women during their relationship.

"On 17 April, a girl who was also talking to Yash contacted her and shared proof of his affairs. She says Yash’s family knew about this but kept giving her hope of marriage," read the report. "Three other girls have contacted her and shared similar experiences. She says Yash used the same app on their phones to order household items. She found out that he stayed in a Lucknow hotel on 7 June and ordered objectionable items."

She initially tried to report the incident by calling the women's helpline (181) on June 14, 2025, but the process did not advance at the local police station. Feeling helpless financially and socially, the woman directly approached the Chief Minister’s office for justice.
