Gurugram: A shocking case of alleged honour killing came to light from Gurugram, wherein a 25-year-old national-level tennis player, Radhika Yadav, was shot dead by her father at their home on Thursday morning (July 10). The accused, Deepak Yadav, a former bank employee, has reportedly confessed to the murder, citing long-standing tensions over his daughter’s growing independence, her public presence on Instagram, and her appearance on a year-old music video.
According to police, Deepak shot Radhika thrice in the back while she was preparing breakfast at their residence around 10:30 am. She was rushed to Asia Maringo Hospital in Sector 56 by her uncle Kuldeep Yadav and cousin, but was declared dead on arrival.
Music video may have ‘triggered’ murder
While disagreements over Radhika’s earnings and her decision to open a tennis academy in Sector 57 had persisted for months, investigators believe a music video titled Karwaan, featuring Radhika and released under the LLF Records label, may have further strained the father-daughter relationship.
Sources told NDTV that Deepak had objected to Radhika’s presence in the video, asking her to delete it from her social media accounts.

Villagers from Wazirabad, the family's native village, allegedly mocked Deepak, claiming he was living off his daughter’s income and even questioned her character, which, according to police, deeply affected him.
“When I used to go to Wazirabad to get milk, people used to taunt me, saying that I live off my daughter's earnings,” he told police, as quoted by NDTV.
‘I found her motionless’: Radhika's Uncle
The first information report (FIR) was filed by Kuldeep Yadav, Radhika’s uncle and the accused's younger brother. “When I went upstairs, I saw my niece lying motionless in the kitchen. The revolver was on the floor in the drawing room,” Kuldeep reportedly told police.
The accused’s wife, Manju Yadav, was at home during the incident but claimed she was unwell and locked in her room at the time. She has reportedly not given a written statement to the police.
