Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna Suspended By JDS Amid Massive 'Sexual Abuse' Scandal That Rocked Karnataka

Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna has been suspended by his party Janata Dal (Secular) on Tuesday amid the growing heat surrounding the release of obscene videos showing him with women. The party also issued a show-cause notice to Prajwal, who reportedly fled to Germany after the scandal broke out on Sunday.
Prajwal, who is the grandson of former prime minister HD Deve Gowda, has been allegedly involved in the sexual abuse of thousands of women, including a few government employees. Videos of him indulging him the sexual acts against the women was circulated in Hassan, after which the Karnataka government ordered the formation of a special investigation team (SIT) to investigate the matter.

"We welcome SIT against Prajwal Revanna. We've taken a decision to recommend our party's national president to suspend him from the party till the SIT investigation is completed, " said JDS core committee president GT Devegowda.
The decision to suspend Revanna came amid the growing pressure on the JDS to action against the 33-year-old Hassan MP. Ahead of his suspension, Prajwal's uncle and JDS chief HD Kumaraswamy that the party was "not going to protect him". "This is a serious issue. Who is running the government, they have to expose the real picture and the ground reality has to be exposed by the government and not me," he told reporters.

Earlier in the day, Home Minister Amit Shah said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supported the investigation against Prajwal. However, he attacked the Congress government accusing it for delay in taking action against Prajwal.
“BJP's stand is clear that we stand with the ‘Matr Shakti’ (women power) of the country. I want to the ask Congress – Whose government is there? The government is of the Congress party. Why have they not taken any action till now?” Shah said. “We do not have to take action on this as this is a law and order issue of the state, the state government has to take action on it...We are in favor of the investigation and our partner JD(S) has also announced to take action against it. Today there is a meeting of their core committee and steps will be taken.”
