Gujarat News: Five Feared Dead As Car Plunges Into Nabhoi Canal In Gandhinagar
The car, bearing registration number GJ03 MR 4783, was completely submerged when first responders arrived at the scene. Swift rescue efforts led to the retrieval of the car using a hydro vehicle, and divers were deployed to locate the remaining occupants.

Gandhinagar: Five people are feared dead when a Kia Seltos car plunged into the flower waters at Nabhoi canal in Gandhinagar on Tuesday afternoon. The Gandhinagar fire department has managed to fish out two dead bodies, including that of a girl from the ill-fated car that plunged into the canal.
The car, bearing registration number GJ03 MR 4783, was completely submerged when first responders arrived at the scene. Swift rescue efforts led to the retrieval of the car using a hydro vehicle, and divers were deployed to locate the remaining occupants.
“We suspect all five passengers drowned. So far, only two bodies have been recovered,” said a senior fire brigade officer overseeing the rescue operation.
Eyewitnesses present at the scene said the car veered off the road and suddenly fell into the canal, creating panic in the area. The flow of water in the canal is said to have hampered rescue operations, making the search for survivors extremely challenging.
“We heard a loud splash and rushed to the spot. It was shocking—within seconds, the car was gone,” said a local resident who witnessed the accident.
The exact cause of the accident remains unclear. Officials from the police and local administration have begun an investigation to determine what led to the tragedy.
“We’re looking into all possible angles. Whether it was a case of speeding, loss of control, or any external factor, the truth will come out after a full inquiry,” said a Gandhinagar police official.
