Moscow: The flight carrying DMK MP Kanimozhi-led Operation Sindoor outreach delegation to Moscow was delayed for hours after a drone attack by Ukraine, reported India Today. Notably, the drone attack led to the temporary closure of the Domodedovo International Airport in Moscow.

The flight with Indian MPs on board was denied permission to land. It was airborne for some time. After the delay, the flight landed in Moscow on Friday morning (local time). Notably, Russia launched a military operation against Ukraine in February 2022.

The Indian Embassy in Moscow, in an X post, said, "All-Party Delegation led by Member of Parliament Ms. Kanimozhi Karunanidhi @KanimozhiDMK arrives in Moscow to convey 🇮🇳’s strong resolve to fight terrorism in all its forms."

Kanimozhi is leading Group 6’s mission to Russia, Spain, Greece, Slovenia, and Latvia. Former envoys Manjeev Singh Puri and Jawed Ashraf are also part of the group. Other members of the delegation led by Kanimozhi are - Ashok Kumar Mittal (AAP), Brijesh Chowta (BJP), Mian Altaf Ahmad (NC), Rajeev Rai (SP) and Prem Chand Gupta (RJD).

In response to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack and the subsequent Operation Sindoor, the Narendra Modi government sent seven delegations to different countries as part of a powerful international anti-terrorism outreach initiative to expose Pakistan.

Seven all-party delegations comprising 59 members will travel to 33 countries, including the European Union headquarters to reinforce India’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism and present a united national front.

These delegations are led by prominent leaders from across the political spectrum ranging from the BJP and Congress to the DMK and NCP and include former diplomats and seasoned parliamentarians. The Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed that their visits will span key regions in the Middle East, Europe, Southeast Asia, Africa, and the Americas.
