Patna: The panchayat secretary of Phulwarisharif block on Monday filed an FIR against RJD MLA Bhai Virendra from Maner, accusing the latter of using casteist remarks against him.

Panchayat secretary, Sandeep Kumar, also alleged that RJD MLA misbehaved with him as he had to undergo mental trauma due to his misdemeanour.

A purported audio clip, featuring Bhai Virendra, has gone viral on social media as the MLA can be heard using objectionable language against the government official over the phone for not recognising him.

Bhai Virendra had called the panchayat secretary to find out the status of a death certificate. However, when the secretary failed to recognise him, the MLA lost his cool and said, "You don't know Bhai Virendra? You want me to introduce myself? The whole country knows me." Retorting to the RJD MLA’s statement, the panchayat secretary said, "If you speak respectfully, I will do the same. If you talk crooked, I will talk crooked. I am not scared of you".

The MLA hits back, "Joote se maarunga (I will hit you with a shoe) and you can file a case if you want. You don't follow protocol. You dare to ask who Bhai Virendra is?"

After the audio clip of the telephonic conversation went viral, Virendra issued a statement on his Facebook page, admitting the use of harsh language during the call but claimed it all happened due to the panchayat secretary’s tone, which he described as dismissive and disrespectful. He claimed that the official neither greeted him nor took the matter seriously.

He also criticised the panchayat secretary for recording and leaking the call without consent, arguing that it was a violation of privacy laws and government conduct rules.
