'Baazigar' Sandeep Dikshit, Son Of Ex-Delhi CM Sheila Diskhit, Takes 'Revenge' From Arvind Kejriwal - Here's How

New Delhi: 'Politics is a strange game, if it can be called one. Though winning may look like the only aim of politicians to hold and grab on to power, sometimes, a politician is also willing to lose and infact plot to be defeated if it helps him attain a bigger goal or get 'revenge'. Much similar to what Shah Rukh Khan's character does in the 1992 blockbuster 'Baazigar'. For the unversed, the main character in the movie played by Shah Rukh Khan deliberately loses a race with the larger of exacting revenge for his father's death.
Today, it won't be a far stretch of imagination to call Sandeep Dikshit - son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit - as the 'Baazigar' of Delhi elections. For even in his and Congress party's loss, Sandeep has emerged as the 'haar ke jeetne waale ko baazigar kehte hain' type anti-hero or politician for the AAP party.
Kejriwal was defeated by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Parvesh Verma by a margin of over 4,000 votes. Dikshit took 'badla (revenge)', of her mother's defeat in the 2013 Delhi polls. Notably, Sheila Dikshit lost to Kejriwal from the New Delhi seat in 2013 marking the end of the Congress's 15-year governance in the national capital territory.
Kejriwal was defeated by a margin of 4,089 votes, which is almost equal to the votes received by the Congress candidate. Sandeep Dikshit received 4,568 votes. If we look at the results of the New Delhi seat in 2013, Kejriwal defeated Sheila Dikshit with a margin of over 25,000 votes. The AAP chief had received 44,269 votes, while 18,405 votes were polled to Sheila Dikshit.
Kejriwal also retained the seat in 2015 and 2020.

Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 Results:
The BJP registered a thumping victory in the high-octane polls. The saffron party made a comeback in Delhi after 27 years. The BJP bagged 48 seats, while the Kejriwal-led party failed to repeat its 2015 and 2020 electoral performances and was restricted to only 22 seats. The Congress remained insignificant in the national capital territory as none of its candidates managed to win.
The BJP's entire election campaign was focussed on the alleged corruption during the AAP government's tenure of 10 years, including the liquor scam case and 'sheeshmahal'.
