Amaravati, March 30, 2025: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reaffirmed his commitment to building a society free of poverty as he launched the P4 initiative on the occasion of Ugadi. He expressed hope that the Sri Vishwavasu Nama Samvatsara Ugadi festival would bring light and prosperity into the lives of Telugu people.

The state government organized grand Ugadi celebrations at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram in Vijayawada, where CM Naidu participated. He offered special prayers and attended the Panchanga Sravanam (astrological predictions for the year) conducted by Padma Shri awardee Madugula Nagaphani Sharma. He also released almanacs from Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the Agriculture Department, and the Horticulture Department. Additionally, he unveiled the State Cultural Department’s annual events calendar.

Preserving Culture and Traditions

CM Naidu highlighted the uniqueness of Indian culture and traditions, emphasizing the importance of preserving them. He noted that forgetting history means losing identity. Ugadi, he said, is a reminder of age-old traditions such as Pachadi (a festive dish) and Panchanga Sravanam. Recalling his childhood, he reminisced about villagers gathering to listen to the Panchanga recitation.

His previous government took significant steps to promote Telugu language and culture, including the establishment of Avadhana Kendram near Hitech City, Hyderabad, Annamayya Kshetram, and Shilpakala Vedika. The government has also expanded Ugadi celebrations to Delhi’s Andhra Bhavan and Chennai’s Potti Sriramulu Memorial Trust.

Innovation and Progress

Stressing the need for innovation, CM Naidu pointed out that the world is changing rapidly, and progress depends on adapting to new technologies. He took pride in the fact that Telugu people have doubled their income compared to Americans within just 25 years. Sharing a vision with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and actor-politician Pawan Kalyan, he expressed confidence in Andhra Pradesh and India emerging as global leaders. He prayed that Telugu people play a crucial role in the country’s growth.

Undoing the Damage of the Previous Government

CM Naidu criticized the previous government for the hardships Andhra Pradesh endured over the past five years. He described the problems left behind as unprecedented in his long political career but assured that his government is systematically resolving them. This year’s ₹3.22 lakh crore budget aims to strengthen the state’s economy, improve living standards, and ensure better income, healthcare, and happiness for all.

Empowering Youth Through Technology

Reflecting on his past tenure, CM Naidu recalled how he built Hitech City, promoted Information Technology (IT), and encouraged the adoption of mobile phones, despite skepticism.

Now, he is focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the development of Quantum Valley.

While highlighting the benefits of mobile technology, he also warned against its misuse.

P4:A Mission for a Poverty-Free State

Launching the Margadarshi – Bangaru Kutumbam Zero Poverty (P4) initiative on Ugadi, CM Naidu outlined his vision for a just society where wealth is not concentrated in the hands of a few. He emphasized that real progress happens when everyone has access to quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. The P4 initiative calls for the wealthy to support the poor, with the top 10% of society voluntarily uplifting the bottom 20%. He urged Telugu people to set an example in philanthropy on the global stage.

People First-The Government’s Commitment

In the last nine months, the NDA government has made decisions with a “People First” approach. While prioritizing welfare and development, the government is also attracting investments. CM Naidu introduced WhatsApp Governance, ensuring government services are easily accessible to citizens without requiring them to visit offices.

Ugadi Awards-Honoring Excellence

During the Ugadi celebrations, CM Naidu praised Madugula Nagaphani Sharma, recalling his 30-year association with him and commending his dedication. He said that Sharma’s Padma Shri award was a proud moment for the Telugu community.

The event also recognized individuals for their contributions in various fields. CM Naidu presented Kala Ratna awards to 86 individuals and Ugadi awards to 116 individuals, honoring their achievements and dedication to cultural and societal progress.

With the launch of P4 on Ugadi, CM Naidu set forth a renewed mission, transforming Andhra Pradesh into a state where prosperity is shared by all, ensuring a future free of poverty.
