4 Punjab Pilgrims Killed, 23 Injured As Pickup Truck Falls Into Gorge In Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra

Chandigarh: Four pilgrims returning from Chamunda Devi temple in Dharamshala town of Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district were killed and 23 others were injured when the pickup truck they were travelling in, plunged into a gorge near Jadrangal village Friday morning.

Police said that all the pilgrims were from Moga district of Punjab and the accident took place on Chamunda-Dharamshala road near Ikku Mod when the vehicle’s driver lost control over the pickup truck and it fell into a deep gorge at around 7.30 am. In all, there were 29 pilgrims in the vehicle.

Police said that the injured were rushed to Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College and Hospital, Tanda town, district Kangra, where four persons including a woman, succumbed to their injuries. The deceased were identified as Kiran, 33, Sukhjinder Singh, 35, Jasvir Singh, 38, and Paramjeet Kaur, 40, all residents of Bhagike village, district Moga. The injured included 15 children, 13 of whom were said to have been grievously injured.
