Zahan Kapoor Says He's Not Criticised Like Cousins Kareena Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor Over Nepotism Due To THIS Reason

Zahan Kapoor, grandson of Shashi Kapoor and second cousin to Ranbir Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan, says he hasn't faced nepotism criticism like his cousins. He shared that he grew up outside the industry bubble, with parents who were creators but not immersed in Bollywood. "I was given the luxury of being able to live a really ordinary, normal life," he added.

Zahan Kapoor, the grandson of the late legendary actor Shashi Kapoor, and the second cousin of Ranbir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Karisma Kapoor, is basking the success of his recently released Netflix series Black Warrant. He has been receiving praise from all over on social media for his portrayal of Sunil Kumar Gupta, truly nailing his role as a Tihar jailer.

Despite being a part of the renowned Kapoor family, Zahan revealed that he has not faced the same nepotism criticism as his cousins Kareena and Ranbir. Speaking to Hindustan Times, he shared that he feels fortunate to have grown up uniquely "My parents were both creators but slightly outside the industry. My grandfather retired by the time I was born. So, I have not grown up in the industry bubble, so to speak. I was given the luxury of being able to live a really ordinary, normal life. I learnt about these things as an adolescent," he added.

Zahan further stated that his decision to become an actor was not influenced by anyone. He began his career in production at a young age before transitioning to theatre. "When I started to be interested in acting, it was an organic decision. I have had enough of a degree of separation to be allowed to make these choices for myself," the actor added.

Zahan, the son of actor Kunal Kapoor and theatre personality Sheena Sippy, revealed that his entry into films was "accidental" and "incidental," which happening by chance through casting directors and random opportunities. He added that it was not a calculated decision.

On the work front, Zahan made his acting debut with the 2022 film Faraaz, which was based on the 2016 terrorist attack at the Holey Artisan Bakery in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
