'Witty As Ever': Fans Laud Shah Rukh Khan As He Uses 'Magniloquent', 'Sesquipedalian' In Thank You Note For Shashi Tharoor Post National Award Win
Superstar Shah Rukh Khan won his first-ever National Award for Best Actor for the 2023 film, Jawan, in his illustrious career of 33 years. And as congratulatory wishes poured in for the Badshah of Bollywood, he made sure to reply to them in his own style, and his one such interaction with Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has hogged all the limelight.

And as congratulatory wishes poured in for the Badshah of Bollywood, he made sure to reply to them in his own style, and his one such interaction with Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has hogged all the limelight.
Tharoor took to his X handle on Sunday night to congratulate SRK on his big win. "A National Treasure wins a National Award! Congratulations @iamsrk! (sic)," the MP wrote.
And it did not go unnoticed by SRK, who then decided to respond to Tharoor in the latter's trademark style, using some supreme English words. "Thank u for the simple praise Mr Tharoor... Would not have understood something more magniloquent and sesquipedalian...ha ha (sic)," SRK responded.
SRK won over the internet with his response, and fans lauded his wit and humour. "Haha witty as ever. Many many congratulations to you dear @iamsrk - the most loved actor of our time (sic)," veteran journalist and columnist Barkha Dutt commented.
"Simple praise acknowledged with complex gratitude. He surely didn't see that coming! (sic)," another X user wrote.
It was on August 1 when SRK won the National Award for Best Actor for the 2023 film, Jawan. Post the win, he thanked the jury and the audience for all the love they have showered on him over the years, in a heartfelt video message.

After a four-year break from the silver screen, Shah Rukh made a grand return in January 2023 with Pathaan, which shattered box office records. He followed it up with Jawan, directed by Atlee, where he portrayed a double role, as a soldier father and a vigilante son. The film grossed over Rs 1000 crore at the box office, thus becoming the actor's biggest film till date.
