Bollywood actress Vaani Kapoor was all over the news of late for her upcoming film, Abir Gulaal, which marked Pakistani actor Fawad Khan's return to Bollywood after nine years. However, in light of the Pahalgam attack, the film was banned in India, and now, all posts and promotional material about the film have been removed from Vaani's social media handles.

Vaani was at the receiving end of severe criticism ever since Abir Gulaal was announced and she received flak for working with a Pakistani actor. The terrorist attack in Pahalgam only worsened the situation, and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting officially banned the film from being released in India.

While Vaani condemned the Pahalgam attack, she refrained from commenting on Pakistani artists being banned in the country and on receiving backlash on social media. However, on Friday, the posts of Abir Gulaal were removed from her Instagram. She was given a collab on those posts, and as they were deleted by the film's team, those posts were removed from her account as well.

Abir Gulaal was supposed to mark Fawad's return to Indian theatres after nine years, his last film here being Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Desi fans of the actor went into a tizzy after the teaser dropped online, showing the intense chemistry between Fawad and Vaani. But soon after the teaser released, members of several political parties threatened stringent action if the film reached Indian theatres.

After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam that killed 26, Fawad had condemned it and had put out a statement, praying for the families of the deceased. Meanwhile, in a surprising move, the Indian government has banned the social media handles of several Pakistani celebs who enjoyed a massive fanbase in the country. This list includes the accounts of Fawad, Hania Aamir, Atif Aslam, Mahira Khan, Sajal Aly, and others.
