Ektaa Kapoor's Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, starring Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay in the lead roles, is all set to return to television. Recently, the makers announced the fresh season with a promo video, featuring Smriti and it left fans of the daily soap excited. The short clip was enough to make headlines and amid the buzz, the actress' fees has also been revealed.
According to several media reports, the actress is all set to reprise the role of Tulsi Virani and will receive a hefty fee for reprising the role of Tulsi Virani.
Reportedly, Smriti will be paid Rs 14 lakh per day, and with this, she will also become the highest-paid actress on Indian television. For those unversed, the actress has returned to acting about a long political career.
How much did Smriti Irani earn back then?
In her old interviews, the actress had reportedly revealed that she used to earn Rs 1,800 per day for her role in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi in early 2000s.
During a conversation with Curly Tales, the actress had once said stated that the contract offered her Rs 1,200 to Rs 1,300 per day. "At that time I was doing a cleaner's job at McDonald's where I was getting paid Rs 1,800 a month. So getting Rs 1,200 a day was much better," she had recalled.
With this, the actress is reportedly getting a hike of 77,000 per cent after almost two decades.

The promo of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, unveiled by the makers on July 7, opens with a family speculating whether Smriti will return as Tulsi. The scene then transitions to the iconic Virani mansion, where the doors slowly open to reveal the tulsi plant, mirroring the original theme. Smriti, as Tulsi, enters with folded hands in her signature style.
"Zaroor aaungi, kyunki humara 25 saalon ka rishta jo hai. Waqt aa gaya hai aap se phir milne ka," Smriti says, before signing off with a graceful namaste.
The new season of the show will premiere on July 29 and will air on TV daily at 10:30 pm. The episodes will also be available on JioHotstar.
