Ahead of the release of his upcoming mystery dramedy Mistry, actor Ram Kapoor has reportedly been removed from all promotional activities related to the series. The decision was taken by the senior leadership at JioHotstar, the OTT platform hosting the show, following allegations that the actor made 'sexually inappropriate' and unprofessional remarks during a media interaction Juhu's at JW Marriott on Thursday (June 19).
What eyewitnesses said
According to a report in Midday, eyewitnesses claim that Ram, while seated with Mistry co-star Mona Singh and JioHotstar executives during the media interactions, made repeated comments laced with sexual innuendo that created discomfort among team members and the media.
"He had back-to-back interviews that day. Referring to the work pressure at one point, he said he feels 'gang-raped'. This remark was made while one journalist was setting up her mic," a JioHotstar insider told the news publication.
The journalist present at the time has reportedly confirmed the incident.
More offensive remarks followed during the day
The situation reportedly worsened as the day progressed. The 51-year-old actor is said to have made additional inappropriate comments, not only to the media but also to members of the JioHotstar and public relations teams.
One executive recounted, "He looked at my colleague's dress and referring to its length, said, 'The clothes are distracting'." Another added, "It didn't hit immediately, but when it did later that evening, we started recounting the number of offensive things he said. He told one of our male colleagues that his mother should have faked a headache and he shouldn't have been born. He made references to sex positions."

The report further stated that the next morning, on June 20, the matter was escalated to JioHotstar's senior leadership and HR department. After internal discussions and multiple eyewitness confirmations, the platform decided to cut Ram out of the remaining promotional events for Mistry.
"This workplace prioritises dignity and safety. After a complaint was formally raised and the incidents corroborated by eyewitnesses, the leadership moved promptly. As of now, Ram has not issued a public response to the controversy.
