Actress, comedian and social media personality Jamie Lever, daughter of veteran Bollywood actor Johny Lever, recently opened up about deeply disturbing incidents from her past, which left a lasting impact on her and led her to keep her distance from men for many years.
During an interview with Hautterfly, Jamie shared a horrifying incident where an unknown man 'masturbated' in front of her outside her school. Jamie studied at Jamnabai Narsee International School which is in Mumbai's Vile Parle.
Recalling the disturbing incident, Jamie said, "My driver asked me to sit inside the car after school. I was sitting at the backseat with my friend and we were waiting for my brother. A man came and stood outside the car...he flashed and he started masturbating. I was so shocked that I didn't understand what was happening. I was shaking because I thought he'll open the car door. I slowly locked the doors and when he realised we were not looking at him, he walked off."

The actress added, "It was so disturbing. I was only 10-12 years old when this happened. I didn't tell my parents because I didn't understand what happened. I did not even discuss this with the friend who I was with because we were traumatised."
Jamie also stated that her school bus conductor, whose duty is to protect children, used to hold them and touch them inappropriately sometimes.
Recalling another such incident, Jamie said, "Once, I was coming down the stairs at Andheri station and a man came and flashed in front of me. I froze as I didn't understand what happened and why it happened. My friend pulled me and asked me to just keep walking. All these things disturb you. It's now that I feel that I have the courage to stand up for myself and react."
Opening up about how these incidents affected her as a teenager, Jamie mentioned, "To be honest, all these things are like a bad dream to me. You don't want to go back and revisit these things. I've suppressed these incidents in my subconscious. Also, because of these scary incidents, I didn't let men come close to me for many years. Dating, relationships and even talking to men happened much later in my life. I started opening up when I was in London for my post-graduation."
Jamie made her Bollywood debut with the 2015 film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, starring Kapil Sharma, Elli AvrRam and others. She has also been a part of films like Housefull 4, Bhoot Police, Yaatris and Crakk. In 2024, she made her debut in the South Indian film industry with the Telugu film Aa Okatti Adakku.
Jamie is also known for her hilarious reels on Instagram. She often receives praise for spot-on mimicry of several Bollywood celebs, including Asha Bhosle, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut and Farah Khan.
