Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi, who is currently busy with the promotions of his upcoming films Ground Zero, opened up about the underlying negativity in the film industry and addressed the oft-discussed lack of unity and support among peers. He said that people in Bollywood try to pull each other down and downplay the success of others.
During a conversation, YouTuber Siddharth Kanan told the actor, "Kabhi kabhi ye sunne ko aata hai ki industry ek nahi hai, they try to pull each other down." Emraan agreed without hesitation and said, "Of course, completely. I have sensed it."
Emraan added, "I can't say who does it, how they do it, or what their methods of manipulation are. But such things do happen. There is a crab mentality in this industry. You can hear it in their conversations, that no one is truly happy about someone else's success."

The actor further criticised the industry's tendency to downplay the success of others.
"If someone's film is successful, people say, 'Oh, the numbers are fudged.' These days, credibility has become an issue. So, people aren't genuinely happy about each other's success. I don't understand why. Why do you focus so much on others' success or failure? Focus on your own work. That's exactly why your films aren't working, because you're too busy looking at your peers," he added.
When asked if he had personally faced attempts to be pulled down, Emraan said, "You don't experience this first hand but it could be functioning at the back. Koi aapko saamne se aake ye nahi bolega. But I would also say that the industry is supportive as I didn't stop getting work after some of my films didn't work well."
Meanwhile, on the work front, Emraan will soon be seen in Ground Zero in which he will be seen as BSF Deputy Commandant Narendra Nath Dube. The film, directed by Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar, is all set to hit the big screens on April 25.
Emraan also has films like They Call Him OG, G2 and Awarapan 2 in the pipeline.
