Title: Chhorii 2
Cast: Nushrratt Bharuccha, Soha Ali Khan
Director: Vishal Furia
Where to watch: Amazon Prime Video
Ratings: 3 stars
Chhorii 2 Review: In 2021, Nushrratt Bharuccha starrer Chhorii had premiered on Amazon Prime Video. The Vishal Furia directorial was a remake of a Marathi film titled Lapachhapi, which was also helmed by Furia. The film had received a decent response, and later, the makers decided to make it a franchise, and the sequel was announced. Now, Chhorii 2 has started streaming on the OTT platform, so it is better than the first part? Read on to know that…
The sequel is a continuation of what happened in Chhorii. Seven years later, Sakshi (Nushrratt Bharuccha) is living with her daughter Ishani and Rani (Pallavi Ajay, Rajbir’s third wife). But, one night, some goons kidnap Ishani and Rani, and take them to the same village where Sakshi was taken by her husband seven years ago. Sakshi, along with a friend who is a cop, goes to the village in search of her daughter. But now, things are more complicated as it is finally revealed why the people of that village were killing girls. So, why is Ishani kidnapped? Will Sakshi be able to save her daughter? Well, to know these answers, you need to watch the film.
While many filmmakers are just using the franchise name and making spiritual sequels, Chhorii 2 stands out because it is a proper continuation. Also, it is not a remake, but an original movie. The story of the film is quite interesting and Furia with his narration, keeps us hooked. The film has a lot of thrilling moments that keep you engaged to the screen, but the major problem here is that there are not many chilling moments.
Chhorii 2 is a horror film, so we expect that there will be jump scares and scenes that will make us scared. But that doesn’t happen. There are hardly any scary moments throughout the film. So, we cannot call this one a good horror film, and that is disappointing.
Chhorii 2 Review – Actors Performances
Nushrratt Bharuccha is simply excellent in the film. She has nailed it as a mother who will do anything to save her daughter. An award winning performance by her! Soha Ali Khan gets a grey character, and she does justice to it. Child actor Hardika Sharma, who plays the role of Ishani, is also leaves a very strong mark. Saurabh Goyal as Rajbir is impressive, but Gashmeer Mahajani is wasted.
Chhorii 2 Review – Music
In such horror-thrillers, music plays a very important part. But, here the background score is just average.
Chhorii 2 Review – Final Verdict
Overall, Chhorii 2 has an interesting story, and there are some really good thrilling moments. Just like Chhorii, this one also gives a very important message. However, if you are looking for a good horror film, you might be disappointed.
