Mumbai News: Central Railway Observes International Level Crossing Awareness Day 2025 With Extensive Safety Campaign

Mumbai Division of Central Railway observed International Level Crossing Awareness Day on 5th June 2025 by organizing a series of impactful awareness activities aimed at promoting safety at manned and unmanned level crossings.

Mumbai: Mumbai Division of Central Railway observed International Level Crossing Awareness Day on 5th June 2025 by organizing a series of impactful awareness activities aimed at promoting safety at manned and unmanned level crossings.

A joint initiative involving officers and senior subordinates from all departments, along with the Civil Defence and Railway Cultural Teams, was conducted across various level crossing gates. The programes focused on educating road users about the importance of safety while crossing railway tracks at LC gates.

The key highlights of the campaign included:

• Display of informative banners at level crossing gates.

• Distribution of approximately 1,600 multilingual pamphlets (Marathi, Hindi, and English) highlighting do's and don'ts at level crossings.

• Organization of Nukkad Nataks (street plays) by Civil Defence and Railway Cultural teams to demonstrate real-life scenarios and safety measures.

• Intensive counselling of over 8,746 road users and 76 gatemen.

• Use of digital media platforms including WhatsApp and SMS to circulate safety messages.

• Active announcements by RPF personnel through megaphones to sensitize the public at LC gates.

• Meetings with Gram Panchayat members and rural hospital representatives to increase outreach in local communities.

• Inspection of 65 level crossing gates and conduct of 7 safety seminars and meetings.

Mumbai Division reaffirmed its commitment to safety by integrating one-to-one interactions and real-time demonstrations, such as showing school children the dangers of crossing under closed gates.
