RRB Group D Recruitment 2025: Over 1.08 Crore Applications Received; Mumbai Zone Records Highest Numbers

RRB Group D Recruitment 2025: The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has revealed that more than 1.08 crore candidates have applied for recruitment in Group D under the notification CEN 08/2024. Interestingly, Mumbai emerged as the city with the highest number of applicants with a whopping 15,59,100 (or 15.59 lakh) candidates applying.

Though the RRB had initially notified 32,438 posts for the vacancies, the massive number of applications indicates a highly competitive recruitment process with a huge gap between the number of applications and the number of posts. Now that the online registration has closed, the RRB is likely to come out with the dates of the examination of Group D recruitment soon.

Mumbai Takes the Lead with Most Applications

Of all the RRB regions, Mumbai has garnered the highest number of applications at 15.59 lakh aspirants competing for Group D jobs. Mumbai is trailed by other large regions like Chandigarh at 11.60 lakh, Chennai at 11.12 lakh, Secunderabad at 9.60 lakh, and Prayagraj at 8.61 lakh applicants, each having a good number of ambitious applicants.

The RRB Group D hiring provides different Level 1 vacancies within the Indian Railways such as Track Maintainer Grade-IV, Assistant Pointsman, and technical assistant vacancies in units such as Electrical, Mechanical, and Signal & Telecommunication.
