Teachers will have to come back on June 1 to prepare for the next academic term, giving them a somewhat shorter break. This schedule frees up teachers for professional development and administrative preparation before classes start back.
The authorities consulted the educational authorities and weather experts before finalizing the decision, especially keeping in mind the need for the safety of the students in the peak summer period. Officials said the extended vacation would help students avoid the harsh summer temperatures.

Apart from the summer vacation, the holiday list of the School Education Department includes holidays for other important festivals of the academic year 2025–26. Schools are to have holidays for Dussehra from October 1 to October 3 and Diwali from October 18 to October 23, followed by a winter break from December 31, 2025, to January 4, 2026.
