CBSE Board Exam 2025: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that a window for correction would be opened to enable affiliated schools to correct mistakes in candidate details that have been provided for the upcoming 2025 board examinations. The correction window opened on April 9 and will close on April 17, 2025. The notice is available at cbse.gov.in.
One-Time Correction Facility for Schools
CBSE stressed that this window is a one-time opportunity to correct errors in student data that may affect their results or official records. The board asked schools to be careful in checking information prior to initial submission, as this correction period is meant to only correct actual errors.
Reason Behind the Move
This choice is made after multiple instances of faulty data submissions by different schools despite clear directions by CBSE. Previously, numerous schools went to the board with requests for modification after the deadline for submission, prompting CBSE to bring about this formalised correction option.
Correction Fee and Eligibility
Regular candidates can benefit from this facility. There will be a processing fee of ₹1,000 per candidate for every correction request. Schools will have to remit the fee to their concerned CBSE regional offices.
List of Permitted Corrections
CBSE has listed the kinds of corrections permitted in this window:
- Interchanging mother's and father's names
- Correction of photograph
- Correction of date of birth (according to board rules and supporting documents)
- Update in the 'Single Child' status
- Correction of gender
For parental name corrections, the board made it clear that minor spelling corrections or format changes will be allowed. Significant name changes or full replacements will not be allowed.
No Change in Candidate Category Allowed
The board has also mentioned that category changes like shifting to OBC from General will not be considered in the window. CBSE emphasised the necessity of keeping the data accurate while submitting in the first phase to avoid any mismatch and late-stage problems.
