Ratan Tata: From Cleaners To Peons, Late Philanthropist Leaves Behind ₹3.5 Crore To Office Staffers

Ratan Tata, the former chief of Tata Group and renowned philanthropist, may have passed away, but his acts of kindness continue to not only resonate with people who knew him but also placate lives.

Ratan Tata Leaves Rs 3.5 Crore For Staffers

Tata, who passed away at the age of 86 on October 9, 2024.

According to a report from Times of India, the late billionaire left about Rs 3.5 crore for his former staffers; this includes office staffers, along with people who worked for him at his home.

This included house helps, peons, cleaners and other employees who worked for him.

It is also learned that the executors of his will will distribute Rs 15 lakh out of his estate to long-time domestic servants.

Loan Waiver For Staffs

Tata also earmarked Rs 1 lakh for part-time helpers and car cleaners.

Not just that, Tata also waived off loans that were handed out to his staff members.

Ratan Tata's will consist of both movable and immovable assets in India and away. These assets take the overall wealth left behind by Tata to around Rs 10,000 crore.

Here, most assets are set to be directed to a non-profit for charitable purposes. 

Tata also gave away a lumpsum amount of over Rs 1 crore to his long-time cook Rajan Shaw. This also included a loan waiver of Rs 51 lakh.

Shaw was not alone, as Ratan Tata's close aid, Shantanu Naidu, also got a waiver on a loan of Rs 1 crore.

Naidu and Tata's equation is another documented of tale of friendship, that has been discussed in the past as well.

In addition, as a gesture of intimacy in goodwill, he also gave away all his personal use items from luxury brands like Daks, Polo, Brooks Brothers, Brioni, and Hermes to NGOs looking after the underprivileged.

Tata's siblings, Shireen Jejeebhoy and Deanna Jejeebhoy, along with friend Mehli Mistry and Tata Trusts trustee Darius Khambata, are the executors of his will.

As per reports, each of the above executor of his wishes will receive Rs 5 lakh as appreciation.

Not just that, the aforementioned half-sister Shireen Jejeebhoy and Deanna Jejeebhoy have bequeathed one-third of his residual estate. In addition, another executor, Mehli Mistry, will also get his Alibaug bungalow.

Previously, he had reserved around Rs 12 lakh for close canine confidant Tito.

In addition, Ratan Tata earmarked a significant part of his estate to former Taj employee Mohini Dutta.
