New Delhi: On the 10th anniversary of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has made re-KYC compulsory for all Jan Dhan accounts. If you hold such an account, you must complete the process before September 30, 2025.
So far, over 55 crore Jan Dhan accounts have been opened under this flagship financial inclusion scheme, aimed at providing banking access to every citizen. These accounts also serve as a gateway to various government schemes and banking services, without the need to maintain a minimum balance.

Re-KYC process for Jan Dhan accounts
RBI has mandated re-KYC for all Jan Dhan account holders, setting September 30, 2025 as the final deadline. The process is being facilitated through special camps at the panchayat level across the country from July 1 to September 30, 2025.
During re-KYC, account holders can also update their personal details, such as change of address or other information.
Documents required for Jan Dhan re-KYC
To complete the re-KYC process, you will need valid identity and address proof. Accepted documents include:
Aadhaar Card
Voter ID Card
Driving License
Passport
These documents will serve both as identity and address proof.
