Gautam Adani Urges Medical Innovation, Backs Healthcare Transformation With ₹60,000 Cr Vision
At the SMISS AP conference, Gautam Adani called for India’s spinal health revolution, highlighting healthcare challenges, innovation potential, and the Adani Group’s Rs 60,000 crore commitment to build world-class, AI-driven, inclusive healthcare systems.

Mumbai: Speaking at the SMISS AP event at The Taj Mahal Palace, Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, delivered an inspiring address to India’s top spine surgeons and medical experts. He praised doctors as “symbols of hope” and emphasized that true healing blends both medicine and humanity.
Adani reflected on his personal journey — from polishing diamonds in Mumbai to building India’s largest ports, airports, and renewable energy platforms — drawing parallels between spinal resilience in the body and backbone leadership in organizations.
He highlighted India’s “spinal epidemic,” stating that nearly 1 in 2 adult Indians suffer from low back pain, making it the leading cause of disability. He warned that without addressing this crisis, India's rise would be compromised.
Calling for entrepreneurial thinking in healthcare, Adani urged doctors to:
- Build AI-powered spinal diagnostic platforms
- Innovate mobile rural surgery units
Develop next-gen spinal hospitals featuring robotics and regenerative medicine
He also reaffirmed the Adani Group’s Rs 60,000 crore pledge made on his 60th birthday, focused on healthcare, education, and skill development. He emphasized that India needs a system-wide redesign, not just upgrades, with a strong focus on AI, empathy, and integration across care, training, and research.
