Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A student in Bhopal asked Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav why the government does not choose serious topics like ‘sexual harassment’ to be discussed in mock parliaments.
According to information, a mock parliament was held in state capital Bhopal on Thursday, where CM Yadav arrived as a chief guest. Here, a student asked him, “Why the government chooses to focus on topics like ‘Developed India’ or the ‘Emergency,’ but rarely discusses serious issues like sexual harassment.”
She said such matters are often suppressed and that many culprits are not being punished. She demanded that debates on sexual harassment should also take place in such platforms.
Death penalty for sexual crimes in MP
In response, CM Mohan Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh was the first state in India to introduce the death penalty for sexual crimes. He cited a recent case in Bhopal, where the police acted swiftly and ensured that the accused received the death sentence. He assured that the government would not spare anyone involved in such crimes.
During the event, the CM asked the audience which district has both a female Collector and a female SP. The students answered ‘Narsinghpur,’ which the CM confirmed was correct. He added that in the Shahdol division, even the Divisional Commissioner is a woman.
CM takes a dig at Congress
Taking a dig at the Congress party, CM Yadav mocked its name, saying it couldn’t even choose an Indian name. “If your brothers and sisters were born, would you name them like kids in America or England? If you like foreign names so much, go contest elections there,” he said.
The mock parliament was organised by the BJP Mahila Morcha. Along with CM Mohan Yadav, other leaders present included BJP State President Hemant Khandelwal, former president VD Sharma, Union Minister Savitri Thakur, Mahila Morcha President and Rajya Sabha MP Maya Narolia and others.
