Video: 62-Year-Old Fruit Vendor Dies After Speeding Car Strikes His Cart in Jabalpur; Driver Found To Be Drunk

Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A 62-year-old fruit vendor lost his life after a car hit his cart while he was returning home in Jabalpur on Tuesday.

The incident was caught on CCTV cameras, which were installed in the area.

In the video, it can be seen that the car was moving slowly at first, but then suddenly looses control, accelerated and hit the man.

The man identified as Kalicharan Shripal, lost his life in a tragic road accident on Monday in Subhash Colony, under the Civil Lines police station area of Jabalpur.

The incident took place around 11:30 AM when Kalicharan was returning home with bananas on his cart, as he did every day.

According to eyewitnesses, a speeding car (registration number MP 20 ZG 7912) suddenly hit Kalicharan’s cart from behind.

After hitting the cart, the car went out of control and crashed into a nearby house.

Kalicharan was rushed to a private hospital but sadly died during treatment.

Additional SP Suryakant Sharma informed that Kalicharan lived in Lal Maati, Siddh Baba Bihari Mohalla, and had been selling vegetables on a cart for years to support his family.

His death has left the local community in shock.

Police found that the car had a “POLICE” sticker on its number plate and was carrying four people.

The driver was reportedly drunk at the time of the accident. The police reached the spot quickly, seized the car, and took the driver into custody.

A medical test confirmed that the driver had consumed alcohol.

The police are reviewing CCTV footage and have promised strict action against those responsible.

Residents are demanding strict punishment for the driver and stricter rules against drunk and reckless driving.
