Sehore (Madhya Pradesh): Two students from VIT Kothri College drowned in the Bheru Kho Waterfall in the Khivni Wildlife Sanctuary located near Daulatpur in the Sehore-Devas district border.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday and their bodies were recovered on Monday morning around 11 am. After post-mortem, the bodies will be handed over to their families.
It is said that the 2 students visited the risky spot and tried to take selfies at the spot despite repeated warnings from the district and police administration.
Both hailed from Hyderabad
The incident happened around 7 pm when one of the students, Sinmuk, slipped and fell into the water while taking a selfie. Another student, Hemant, jumped in to save him, but unfortunately, both drowned.
Both aged 20, originally hailed from Hyderabad and were part of a group of 5 students who had come to enjoy the waterfall.
The remaining 3 students - Narendra (from Gujarat), Vamasi (Hyderabad), and Lalit (Hyderabad) - safely came out of the forest and informed the police about the incident.
Upon receiving the information, the Ichhawar police station team, along with SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) and an ambulance, reached the spot. However, due to darkness and the depth of the waterfall, the rescue operation was halted for the night.
The search resumed early Monday morning, and around 11 am, the bodies of both students were recovered.
