Spain Tour Day-3: MP CM Mohan Yadav Visits Mercabarna Fruit-Vegetable Market, Hails Its Agri Model; Meet Catalonia's Foreign Minister

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Chief Minister Mohan Yadav visited the fruit-vegetable market "Mercabaarna" in Barcelona on the third day of his Spain visit. Yadav praised the agricultural model and met Catalonia's Foreign Minister Jaime Duch Guillot. There was an in-depth discussion between the two leaders on technical cooperation, higher education, investment and cultural exchange.

Chief Minister Yadav also visited the huge campus of Mercabarna spread over 250 acres. He said that the modern system of quality, packing, processing and distribution of fruits and vegetables is an excellent model for farmers.

CM said that the production of fruits is increasing in Madhya Pradesh, in such a situation, the farmers of the state can benefit from such a market model. Yadav said that this arrangement not only ensures fair prices for the products but also strengthens the export possibilities.

Discussion on exchange of higher education, technical cooperation

Detailed discussions were held between Yadav and Foreign Minister of Catalonia on higher education, technical cooperation and cultural exchange. Both sides agreed to explore the possibilities of academic partnership between Madhya Pradesh's leading institutions IIT Indore, IISER and Barcelona universities.

The meeting also discussed the possibilities of investment and technical cooperation in areas like food processing, textile and renewable energy. Apart from this, an agreement was reached between Madhya Pradesh and Catalonia to explore the possibilities of joint work in the field of cultural programs, performing arts, literature, cinema and museums.

Consensus expressed on the formation of a joint working group

There was also a discussion between Yadav and Catalonia's Foreign Minister on running a joint tourism promotion campaign to promote Madhya Pradesh's world heritage sites Khajuraho, Sanchi and Bhimbetka in Europe. Possibilities of partnership in sports, youth leadership and life skills programs were explored with organizations like FC Barcelona Foundation. Both also agreed to form a Joint Working Group to enhance technical cooperation in the field of smart cities, urban transport and green buildings.
