Shocking! Blade Found Inside ₹10 Dettol Soap Bar; Cuts 10-Yr-Old's Cheek In Gwalior |

Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A family from Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior made a shocking allegation against Dettol, citing manufacturing malfunction. They claimed that a sharp blade was discovered embedded inside a ₹10 Dettol soap bar. Unaware, their child rubbed the new bar on his face while bathing, leading to a harsh cut on the cheek.

Following this, the victim's father called the National Consumer Helpline by calling 1915 and filed a formal complaint against the matter.

According to information, the boy, Ansh, picked a new Dettol soap bar and started washing his face just after he returned home after playing with his friends.

As he rubbed the soap on his face, he felt his skin being cut with a sharp object and blood flowing through his cheek.

Ansh immediately called out to his parents. When his father, Angad Singh Tomar, rushed to the bathroom, he was shocked to see a blade lodged inside the soap.  He has filed a complaint on consumer helpline portal.

If it is a manufacturing or a packaging fault from the company's side or the soap was tampered at the local store is yet to be ascertained.

Another blade found in new soap

The family lives in Anand Nagar, Bahodapur, and had purchased the soap from a local grocery store, on May 21. Along with other groceries, they had bought ten Dettol soaps priced at ₹10 each.

Following the incident on Monday evening, Angad Singh went to the grocery store to inform the shopkeeper.

Store owner himself couldn’t believe such a thing was possible. To address the issue, he replaced the soap with another one from the same batch.

However, upon testing the new soap at home by dissolving it in water, Angad discovered another blade inside.

No action taken yet?

Later, Angad Singh called the National Consumer Helpline number (1915) and said, ‘My son could have died due to this.’ He also submitted the incident's details through their online platform.

Now, he is demanding strict action from consumer protection authorities and has stated that if no significant steps are taken, he will pursue the matter further in court.

To date, we have not received any formal complaint or notice from any consumer, nor has any individual attempted to contact us directly, despite our consumer care contact details being printed on all our soap labels. As such, we are currently unable to comment on the veracity of the allegation though prima facie it appears to be a case of counterfeit products, or a malicious campaign aimed at tarnishing brand’s reputation.

The company further mentioned, "We are making efforts to reach out to the complainant; however, we do not have their contact details. Additionally, we have contacted the wholesaler from whom the soap was reportedly purchased and have collected samples for testing. We request the media to assist us by providing any relevant details they may have, especially since they have conducted an interview with the individual making the claim."
